Patrick, St Leonards
I have been suffering bed bugs for over 5 years, when I moved house I threw out the whole bed and bought a new one, but the bugs followed me. They had also infested the lounge and they made their way back to the bed.
I have used insecticide sprays until the bed was too wet to sleep on, but they came back. I steamed everything but the bugs came back. After three nights, they would be back in force.
Endless nights of waking up, turning on the lights and hand removing the hordes of bugs that had gathered since I last turned the light on. I was washing the sheets every second day. I just wanted to be able to sleep again.
Out of desperation, I bought the powder, a dispenser, and a queen size mattress cover.
The first week the numbers dropped dramatically, better than steaming alone, but I still had bugs.
My room was cluttered and the bed was not far from the wall, so bugs could get to the bed without crossing the powder. Then I noticed that I missed the bedhead and it was swarming with the blighters.
I steamed the bed head again removed some of the clutter and laid the powder along the edge of the wall and carpet, especially around the bed legs and thoroughly doused the bed head with powder.
That did the trick, and since then the bed has been bug-free. 8 weeks so far. When I remove the fitted sheet for wash day no bugs are nesting in the seams anymore.
Oh the sleep, the blissful uninterrupted sleep. I used to dread going to bed now I look forward to collapsing on the bed.
The mattress cover was large enough to take both the mattress and the mattress topper. There are no signs of the bugs nesting there either.
